Art and Writing Contest for Youth

Carmichael Library

Youth ages 5-12 and teens ages 13-18 are invited to submit original art reproductions or writing to our Art and Writing Contest for Youth!

Entrants can win cash prizes and will be entered into Summer Reading Challenge to earn a free book. Entries are being accepted June 1st trough June 22nd.

How to Submit:

  • Email original writing/fanfiction (10 pages max) or photos of visual art to swesenfeld@saclibrary.org

  • or deliver in person at any public library; attach “Susanna – CAR” to entry
    Include: Name, Age, Library, Title of work, Phone # and Email Address
    Youth can only submit once

Need inspiration? Drop into a library teen program and create an entry for the contest!

Does your child need help with reading in English? Join Reading Buddies, where children work on their reading skills and trained volunteer mentors give feedback and encouragement. Children can bring their own book or pick one out with help from their mentor and library staff. This program is designed for elementary- and middle school-aged children, but high schoolers are also welcome. Drop in anytime on Saturdays from 2—3 p.m. Mentors will be sitting at tables in the children’s area with this flyer.

Robotics Workshop - 4th-6th grade

Learn the basics of robotics and engineering in this STEM-focused workshop led by SES Robotics. Get hands-on experience with LEGO robot building and programming, and take a turn driving a large team robot! Plus, use our 3D printers to create your very own custom 3D printed design.
