Jane Austen Tea

2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Event Details

Please join us for Sacramento Public Library's 12th annual Jane Austen Tea. No need to hitch up the horses to attend. This year we are bringing the celebration to you in what we like to call a "Virtual Reali-Tea"!

We turn our focus to a common thread through each of Jane Austen's novels: dancing. Not only will you learn about the English country dancing you read about in the books and see in the films; you will do a few dances yourself. All from the comfort of your home.

We are so pleased that Cassiane Mobley will be joining us as our featured speaker. A "devoted Janeite, English Country Dance caller, and historical dance enthusiast," they will talk about the history of Regency Dancing and how it relates to Jane Austen's life and novels.

English Country Dance caller Kalia Kliban will be joining us at 3 p.m. to lead us in dance and put what we learned to the test. Clear a space on your floor where you can see your computer screen and be prepared to amaze yourself with your new dance steps.
