Journaling for Mental Health

2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Event Details

Join us for "Journaling for Mental Health," led by local creative writing specialist, Nena Larieze. In this 2-hour program, you will explore artistic methods of decompression through self-expression, poetry, meditation, and art. Themes of emotional intelligence and resilience will be explored through reflective prompts and journaling activities to liberate, empower, and heal. Beginner and experienced writers are welcome. Using the lens of resilience as the ability to recover from or adjust to misfortune or change, writers will apply the concept of resilience to journaling and free-verse poetry prompts.

Registration via Zoom is required. Please click here to register. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the session.

There will be time throughout the program for participants to share their work.

From the instructor: Before I am an educator, I am a writer, and before I am a writer, I am a mother to three, fiercely independent and compassionate children. Over the past fifteen years, I have held several positions in education, including being a graduate writing consultant, an English high school teacher, a college professor, and most recently a program coordinator for a local, educational nonprofit, 916 Ink. I am a published author and a doctoral candidate studying Educational Leadership and Innovation, at the University of the Pacific, where I research trauma-informed curriculum and resilience. I look forward to writing with you soon!
