Sacramento Suffrage: The Fight for Voting Rights in the Capital City

1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

Event Details

Archivist Amanda DeWilde will be sharing the extraordinary stories of the Sacramento women and men who fought a decades long battle for equal voting rights, culminating in ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment 100 years ago. I’ll be talking about how local clubs used creative approaches to change perceptions of women as voters, fighting against liquor interests and deeply entrenched myths about women and their place in politics.
